Sari fabric makes this window treatment soft and subtle.
Materials:

silk sari fabric
scissors
tape measure
fusible webbing
iron
needle and matching thread
Roman shade ring tape
thin to medium rope trim
fabric glue

Steps:

  1. Measure length and width of window. Add five inches to length measurement.
  2. Fold under top edge 1/2 inch press. Fold again to a two-inch width to hold dowel and secure with fusible webbing. Repeat on bottom with a 1-1/2-inch hem.
  3. Glue strips of ring tape to the top, sides and in the middle (slightly smaller than all measurements).
  4. Tie a knot in the trim on the lower left ring and string the rope trim up the left side and along the top. Tie a knot after the upper right ring and let excess hang down the length of the right side.
  5. Tie a knot on the lower middle ring and string the trim up through the middle and to the upper right. Tie a knot after the upper right ring and trim excess to about three inches.
  6. Tie a knot on the lower right and string trim through right side rings. Tie a knot after the upper right ring and trim excess to about three inches.
  7. Use the one long length of trim to raise and lower shade.
