Video: Soften the hard edges of a window with an upholstered screen--it still allows daylight in and provides complete privacy at night.
Materials:

canvas
10 brass hinges
birch plywood
compass
jigsaw
ruler
pencil
quilt batting
staple gun
craft paint
stamp(s)
paintbrush
paper towels
awl
screwdriver
spray bottle

Steps:

1. Cut six 15 x 48 birch panels (or desired size). Use a compass to draw a soft curve across the tops and cut each out with a jigsaw.

2. To create a template for fabric slipcovers, trace each panel onto paper. Cut 12 matching pieces of canvas. Place two right sides together and sew around the edges , leaving the bottom open. Repeat for each slipcover.

3. Wrap the boards with quilt batting so the seam is in the center of the back of each. Staple it in place on the front and back.

4. Slide the canvas panels over the batting and staple in place along the bottom edges. Spray each with water, which will shrink the canvas to the board as it dries (no need to iron).

5. Brush chosen color on the stamp and dab excess on a paper towel. Stamp each image and let dry.

6. Before attaching two hinges to the connecting panels, use an awl to punch through the fabric before tightening the screws (they grab the batting so be careful).
