A hanging stained glass design dresses up an architectural detail in this kitchen.
Matt Fox learns a few facts about stained glass:
  • Cathedral and opalescent glass is used to create stained glass pieces. The first is a textured solid color and the other is milky in appearance with its own color whether light is behind it or not.
  • Since glass is a liquid, it takes on air pollutants. An older design that has been exposed to urban pollutants may have a lot of dirt in the glass, which can't be removed but is part of its antique charm.
  • Incorporate stained glass designs on door sidelights for privacy or basement windows for a beautiful addition to your home.
