Draperies: These vary by the way their top edge is made and are usually used in more traditional/formal settings. Pinch-pleated drapes can cover or expose the rod and work with tiebacks, too. Draperies can also be gathered on the rod and this type is found in casual or frilly settings. Tab top drapes are popular due to their versatility in design and materials available.

Toppers: The topper used can be hard or soft. The latter consists of swags, cascades and jabots.

Swag: This is material placed on or around a rod, usually combined with a cascade.

Cascade: The material that drapes down the sides.
