Kathi Cardinalli shows how to create a contemporary cornice board in any size, shape or color just by using items that you already have around the house.
Materials:
measuring tape
mounting brackets
paint in color(s) of choice
paintbrushes
Steps:
- Measure the width of the window, plus any mounting brackets that you'll use.
- Measure how far away from the wall you want the cornice board as well (figure A).
- Paint wood with two coats of a desired background color.
- Use any items around the house to trace items onto the board (figure B).
- Use various colors of paint and brushes to create the desired design.
- Allow to dry completely, then mount.
Tips
- Use the tip of the paintbrush to create dots.
- Use a makeup brush to apply paint and achieve a straight edge.
