- Because of their simplicity, unadorned wooden poles are an ideal starting point for the amateur window dresser. These rods may be covered with fabric, paint, or a decorative finish.
- Larger poles look best with large rather than small windows.
- Heavy fabrics such as velvet are best accommodated by large rods, while lighter weight fabrics are well suited on an iron pole, available from most discount stores.
