Materials:
round wood drum table
latex primer
Benjamin Moore AquaPearl latex paint (Twilight Blue and White)
latex glazing liquid
Benjamin Moore Stay Clear Low Sheen Acrylic Finish
Ceramcoat Artist Colors (Copen Blue, Ultra Blue, Mudstone)
stencil (#2005 Asian Woodblock)
brushes (stencil, liner and paintbrushes)
masking tape
paint trays
wool sponge
ruler
Steps:
1. Prime the lid/base and let dry overnight.
2. Brush two coats of White on the lid and Twilight Blue on the base, allowing it to dry between layers. Let dry overnight.
3. Mark six-inch squares on the lid, beginning in the center. Tape the stencil in the center of the lid.
4. Pour some Copen Blue and Ultra Blue on a paint tray. Use a stencil brush and a very dry brush to apply Copen Blue randomly over the whole stencil surface, allowing some white to show through. Repeat using Ultra Blue, lightly and randomly applying it over the whole surface. Let dry one to two hours.
5. Use Mudstone and the liner brush to paint the narrow grid/grout lines. Let dry one to two hours.
6. Mix one part Copen Blue with one part White. Then mix one part of that mixture with one part glazing liquid. Use a damp sponge to apply the glaze mixture in an unbroken strie pattern from top to bottom of the base piece (prop the table on paint cans to make it easy). Turn the sponge and go over each pass again to create the subtle effect. Let dry two to three hours.
7. Apply two coats of acrylic finish and let cure two to three days.
