A contemporary, handpainted look
Tile is a wonderful way to add pattern, texture, color and shape to any room in the house. Since tiles are so long-lasting, making the right choices is important . Host Joan Kohn visits with tile expert Mary Dugan of Ann Sacks Tile to learn about the latest options and applications for tile in the kitchen.
  • When deciding about what tile to use, some of the following life style questions are useful: How formal/informal are you? Do you like traditional or contemporary design? What is your budget? Where do you want to use the tile: floor, counter, backsplash? What colors do you like?
  • With such a huge range of choices, there is a tile and look for every budget .
  • In the kitchen, unglazed tiles are not the best choice since they are porous and stain easily. Ceramic tiles clean easily and grout can be maintained with an occasional scrubbing with a weak bleach and water solution.

Some of the latest looks in tile are featured at right.
