Joe and Tara Cruza just bought their first home and their bedroom is small and oddly shaped. Wanting a space to relax in, student designer Kelly McDaniel revamps the room using the colors and texture of a pineapple as inspiration. McDaniel employs a tropical color palette, adds a large canopy bed, installs new lighting and creates texture with paint and fabric. The awkward room is transformed into a relaxing bedroom with an old Key West-inspired style.
Before: Up Against a Wall
The slant of the ceiling starts so low that a headboard won't fit flush against the wall. The bed has to sit about a foot away from the wall, taking up some valuable floor space. Plus, the white wall and ceiling color is stark and cold. For all available product information, click on the After photo(s) of the room.
