Joan Steffend tours a newly-built town home with loads of character and charm. Here's how the homeowner created such a welcoming space:
  • She painted the living room walls green and created a grassy, textured look with a wallpaper brush. The natural look is reinforced with craft grasses in earthy-colored vases.
  • Old tin ceiling pieces are used as artwork to create a dramatic focal point on one wall. Christmas ornaments hanging from iron brackets bring added dimension to the space.
  • The window is framed with a fabric scarf suspended from iron coat hooks.
  • Fabric draped over the TV table hides storage underneath.
  • A divider screen is used to separate the large space, making room for an office at one end.
  • In the guest room, chocolate brown walls complement the antique metal bed, dresser and old family photos. For added nostalgia, a valance made from worn mattress ticking hangs from a simple birch branch.
