Mix florals and checks with black accents to create an English decor.
Most countries have a style all their own. Each of these styles expresses that area's character and unique style. But no matter the country, all country styles have several common themes: comfort, warmth and a very relaxed and lived-in feel . English garden style is typified by an atmosphere of fresh and pretty things:
  • It combines a relaxed elegance with benign neglect, and is usually slightly cluttered.
  • Floral prints, especially in chintz fabrics, are a definite to reproduce this style.
  • Pictures should be framed botanicals and needlepoint pillows are a must.
  • Painted wood furniture, lace accents, fresh flowers and china antiques help to complete the look.
