Figure B

Figure A--Arches that were so stylish in the '70s--both on the interior and exterior--would have to be removed to make this house beautiful again. Numerous arches that separated rooms were removed and replaced with more contemporary columns. The walls are now a warm coppery color with oyster-white trim.

Figure B--When the time came to transform the kitchen, the new owners had their work cut out for them. Two islands were removed and a single island on legs was added. Most of the cabinetry was removed, but the bottom cabinetry was updated to a soft white. These simple changes clearly had a dramatic modernizing effect.
