Merrell says her refurbished cabin addition is a great place for reading, relaxing and entertaining.
Betty Merrell shares how she and her family took apart a dilapidated 1800s cabin log by log and rebuilt it into a cozy and comfortable family living space.
  • Salvaged pine paneling was used for the ceiling and salvaged brick was used for the floor.
  • The fireplace and mantel were re-created with local fieldstone and a rustic beam from a nearby mill.
  • Furnishings include a soft green floral sofa, moss green leather recliner and rustic wood tables. Punched-tin decorates the doors on the old pie safe, which now holds games and videos. A corner cabinet provides display space for a pewter collection and storage for a CD player.
