Ultra-feminine colors and details have been used to create a pretty-in-pink bedroom suite for a luxurious woman's bedroom in a Chicago home. Designer Marsha Jones client wanted "extravagant, feminine and formal" for a large bedroom space, so Jones decided to do that with elegant fabrics and antiques. Here's how she created this beautiful space:
- Wallpaper with a floral design was used within white wall moldings, and a matching fabric was sewn into elaborate window treatments with triple pleated swags trimmed with a darker mauve silk fringe.
- At the "sleeping end" of the space, a French antique bed in a dark wood displays simple cream bedding in silks and cottons. A gilt crown canopy drapes lace panels as a headboard. The bed wall is palest pink, with four insets of mauve and cream toile panels, while a small mauve silk-covered stool is at the foot of the bed for dressing.
- A round table with a silk cloth serves one bedside table; an English antique chest is the other topped by gilt lamps with white silk shades.
- To one side of the bed is an English armoire for storage and a hidden TV. A small lady's writing desk and chair are on the other side facing a window.
- Two white columns mark the "sitting side" of the room. Plush seating for four faces a small fireplace with a white carved wood surround, and a formal crystal chandelier is above this area, with matching sconces on both sides of the mantle.
- The furniture pieces are the final word in feminine luxury: a delicate French settee done in cream silk, an armchair in pink damask and a taupe silk chaise chair and ottoman provide a perfect space for reading and relaxing.
