Steps:
- Window screen kits come with four 48-inch frame pieces--enough to make three 12" x 16" screens. Measure and mark six 12-inch and six 16-inch pieces. Cut with hacksaw and file any rough edges. Assemble frame according to kit instructions.
- Spray fronts and backs of frames with paint. While wet, sprinkle pieces of leaf (figure A). Once dry, gently brush off any excess leafing. Apply clear coat if desired and let dry.
- Cut handmade paper (14" x 18"). Measure on front side for three Chinese characters to be stenciled in center. Put first character in center and stencil with black ink . Sprinkle on desired embossing powder. Tap off excess and emboss with heat gun. Repeat with other characters. Outline each with gold pen.
- Line paper up on back of frame and use small roller edge of cording tool to push it into the groove. Then use the larger edge to push cording into the same track . Cut cording where ends meet.
- Use screw eyes to attach red cording tassels to frame tops.
