Make a useful kitchen organizer from an unfinished wood chest embellished with a mix of fruit stamps. Wood frames and other wood accessories may be embellished to coordinate with the chest and, in turn, the decor.

Materials:

unfinished wooden chest with drawers
acrylic or latex paint in ivory
assorted rubber stamps
black fabric ink pad
stamp cleaner
assorted stamping or acrylic paints
artist's brushes
water-based polyurethane
black permanent marker
optional: antiquing medium

Steps:
  1. Paint the chest with an ivory paint, and antique it if desired. Allow it to dry thoroughly.
  2. Ink the stamps with a fabric ink, and stamp the painted wood surface. Re-ink the stamp after each impression, and clean the stamp when finished.
  3. Dilute the various stamping or acrylic paint colors with plenty of water, and color the stamped images with an artist's brush.
  4. Add shading to the foliage and fruit with various colors.
  5. Use a black permanent marker to embellish the stamped images with words. Allow it to dry.
  6. Protect the wood with a water-based polyurethane finish.
