Materials:
Stick-Ease Stencils (Sl 002 In Full Bloom)
fabric paints (Metallics: Bl 15806 Platinum, Bl 15807 Champagne, Bl 15808 Gold and Bl 15809 Copper)
3D paint (65075 Bronze Pearl) (optional)
cosmetic sponges
place mats
napkins
cardboard or shirt boards
straight pins
scissors
paper plate, waxed paper or foil
Steps:
- Wash all placemats and napkins (don't use fabric softener in the final rinse or softener sheets in the dryer). Iron to remove all wrinkles.
- Place each placemat and napkin onto a piece of cardboard and pin into place .
- Cut stencil motif, leaving about 1/4- to 1/2-inch border around all edges. Gently peel stencil from backing paper.
- Position stencil on surface and press in place. Additional small motifs can be added to a design in the same manner.
- Squeeze a small amount of each paint color selected onto a paper plate, piece of waxed paper or foil. Use sponge piece to dab a light, even coat of color into open areas of stencils.
- For best results, peel stencil off while paint is still wet.
- If desired, embellish with dimensional paint.
Lampshade and Candle
Materials:
Stick-Ease Stencil (SL 009 Funky Florals)
fabric paints (Matte: B1 15793 Grape , B1 15799 Holiday Green; Metallics: B1 15807 Champagne, B1 15808 Gold)
fabric or paper lampshade
large 3-wick candle
cosmetic sponges
Steps:
- Stencil a trail of flowers around the center of the lampshade and the candle using the same techniques described above.
Small Butterflies Lamp
Materials:
Stick-Ease Stencil ( SL 008 Butterflies)
fabric paints (Matte: B1 15788 Petal Pink, B1 15789 Azalea and B1 15793 Grape)
masking tape
cosmetic sponges
Steps:
- Stencil butterflies and swirls using a wash of all three colors.
- Use a reverse stencil technique for the large center butterfly. Mask-off a rectangular area and stick the black part of the stencil within the area.
- Sponge the three colors right over the stencil. Peel off the black part when done to reveal the design. Peel off masking tape.
