Make a magazine rack with fabric that can be changed easily with the seasons or to match any room.
Materials:

suede fabric
8 end caps
16 washers
8 nuts
threaded lamp pipe
polyurethane
scrap wood
drill and 3/4" paddle bit
tape measure
sandpaper

Steps :

1. Cut two equal pieces of wood. Mark a hole in the corner of one piece two inches from the edge and one inch down from the top. Use a square to mark each corner of the piece in the same position.

2. Stack the two pieces and drill holes in each corner. Smooth any rough edges .

3. Apply a coat of polyurethane for a protective finish and warm glow. Let dry .

4. Cut four 15-inch lengths of threaded lamp pipe to join the pieces of wood. Screw a nut onto the pipe about an inch down from the top, which leaves room for adding the wood later. Set a washer over the nut and feed the short side of the pipe through a hole in the wood. Add a washer and an end cap to the other side to hold the pipe in place. Repeat this step and attach pipes to the top holes in one board and the bottom of the other.

5. Cut the suede and fold over the ends to sew a hem. Slide the fabric hem over the pipes on one board. Add another nut to each pipe (about an inch from the ends to leave room for the wood).

6. Join the two pieces together by sliding the fabric-free pipes through the suede sling. Set the washers over the holes in the wood and push the pipe through. To finish , add washers and end caps to secure the pipes.
