Figure C
Robb Whittlef shares how to use found objects for creating interesting home accessories and furnishings:
  • Pair a large-scale wall sconce--minus the glass globe--with a small paneled door for a unique candleholder (figure A). Flank a buffet with a matching set for visual interest. For safety, secure directly to the wall.
  • Use three different-sized plates and a lamp rod to make a unique server (figure B). Drill out the centers and use a lamp rod to secure each plate. Hot-glue a finial to the top of the rod.
  • Turn a sewing cabinet into a functional side table (figure C). Flip open the table and attach two legs on the end. Add a larger top, paint white and umber over it for an antiqued look.
