Ann Myrick shares how to make the best of what you already have:
  • Search through the house for interesting items that can be grouped together in new ways.
  • Use contrasting colors, fabrics and materials. For example, separate brass groupings to make each piece interesting and to incorporate new textures into the existing setting (figure A).
  • Add interest with a variety of picture frame styles, sizes and materials such as antique flower frogs and twig balls.
  • Lamps made from architectural posts are an easy and inexpensive way to incorporate a unique piece. Change the shade for a totally new look.
