Painting Tips

Decorating With Style : Episode DWS-308 -- More Projects »
To keep paint from forming a dried skin in the paint can, place a layer of plastic wrap or waxed paper on top, just like one does with pudding. It is also important to put the lid on good and tight to keep the air out. To do this, put a rag over the can so the paint does not squirt out, then tap the lid in place using a hammer. If the can is well-sealed, it can also be stored upside down. Then if any paint does form a skin, it will be on the bottom. When you get ready to put paint away, take your wet paintbrush and brush a line on the can to mark how much paint you have left . This will also tell you what color is in the can.
