Sharpen Up

Tips:
  • Cut through fine-grit sandpaper a few times to sharpen scissors.
  • To help keep quilting pins sharp, make a pincushion out of a plastic foam ball as sticking the pins in helps sharpen their point. Store it on a nail attached to a block of wood to keep it from rolling around.
  • Keep sharp wood nails handy by putting the points into an old candle that no longer burns. The wax helps to lubricate the nails and allows them to go through wood easier.
