Use a wooden ironing board to make a shelving unit with a clock on top. Start by trimming the back support and create an easel with hinges. Attach shelves from behind with screws then router out a hole in the back for the clock mechanism (available from hardware stores). Sketch and etch-in iron-shaped "burn marks" for a finishing touch.

Fashion a garden bench out of cast-off picket fence sections. Use old gate hinges to attach a seat then paint it with barn red for extra punch.

A new stock kitchen cabinet without a top can become an interesting focal point. Attach two pieces of ceiling tin to the cabinet doors for texture and architectural interest. Paint the entire cabinet and apply an umber stain overall for an instant aged look. Cover the top with vintage wood, screw in hooks and it's ready to use.
