Robb Whittlef shares how to reuse thrift-store leather coats for covering boxes, tabletops and pillows.

Leather-Covered Box
Wrap a wood box with a piece of leather and secure with furniture tacks. Add a small amount of glue to the flat surface so that it doesn't wrinkle.

Enhance a rustic table in the same way--simply secure the material to the top, staple to the underside and embellish with tacks on the edges.

Leather Pillow
Cut two pieces of leather to fit a pillow form, leaving about a half-inch for the seam. Punch holes along the edge and stitch the material together with leather shoelaces (figure A).
