Mesh screening added to a vintage screen frame makes an airy room divider.
Robb Whittlef shows Joan Steffend how to make a vanity, coffee table and room divider with inexpensive items found at flea markets or slated for the trash.
  • Vanity: Two old night tables are joined by nailing or screwing in a top and back (can be plywood or particle board). The unit is painted in a soft yellow and hardware and trim is painted in a contrasting white. An old mirror frame is screwed into the top and painted white.
  • Coffee table: A large vintage tool chest strapped with leather is outfitted with legs to become a unique coffee table. Legs can be salvaged from another piece of furniture or purchased at a home supply store.
  • Room divider: A vintage screen frame serves as the base for a room divider. Window screening is stapled on and decorated with paint stamped on with primitive sponge stamps.
