An old dresser becomes a computer table with a few simple additions.
Robb Whittlef shows Joan Steffend how to make a wine rack, peg board and computer desk from flea market finds.
  • Wine rack: Begin with a generic table frame. Create the wine holder with garden borders pulled apart and re-attached with proper spacing, pointed side down. Either nail or screw the thin wood to the table. Paint white and age with umber.
  • Peg board: Begin with the top of a doorjamb or other decorative wood piece. Attach porcelain pestles: space and drill holes in the jamb and use epoxy glue to attach pestles. Paint if desired. High contrast between the back and the pegs gives a very dramatic look.
  • Computer desk: Begin with an old dresser. Remove the inside framing for the drawers . Attach a prefabricated keyboard underneath the top. Add a lap desk top at foot height, screwed into the sides. Paint and sand for a rustic, vintage yet modern piece of furniture.
