Figure D
Materials:

window
2" x 4" boards
scrap wood
spindles
drill and 3/4" paddle bit
jigsaw
legs
heavy-duty wood glue|
scrap molding
mirror cut to size
dowel
hammer and nails
metal glazing points
measuring tape

Steps :

  1. Measure the window and cut two pieces of 2" x 4" to serve as a frame for the window. Use a piece of scrap wood for the base.
  2. Align the window between the 2" x 4"s, leaving about a two-inch gap on either side (figure A). Place the window close enough to attach it to the frame, but allow enough room for it to swing freely.
  3. For balance and stability, make sure that the bottom of the frame fits completely through the base. Do this by tracing the end of the 2" x 4" onto the base. Create a starter hole with the paddle bit and use a jigsaw to cut along the traced mark (figure B).
  4. Attach legs to the wood base with wood glue.
  5. If desired, attach molding between the top of the 2" x 4"s with screws to decorate the frame.
  6. With the frame completely assembled, slip it through the holes and mount it to the base (figure C).
  7. To hang the window inside the frame, pre-drill a hole partially through the window and another hole completely through the frame using the paddle bit. Add a dowel to connect the window to the frame, allowing it to swing freely. Stabilize the dowel by nailing a small block of wood over it (figure D).
  8. Secure a mirror by pressing triangular metal glazing points into the back of the frame.
