Materials:

1 French door with windowpanes
table
mirrored glass (cut to the size of the window panes)
paint can
jigsaw
scrap wood
wood glue
hammer
drill
paddle bit
nails
wood screws
iron hooks
wood accent piece
four 1-1/2' long pieces of scrap wood
two 6" section of old broom handle
measuring tape
pencil

Steps:

  1. Remove some of the windowpanes and replace them with mirrors.
  2. Round the top edges of the door by tracing the pattern of the paint can onto the door (figure A). Cut out the rounded edge with a jig saw.
  3. Remove two legs from the table. Add support brackets by cutting four triangles out of scrap 2" x 4"s (cut them on a 45-degree angle). Glue the supports into the four corners and then nail them in place (figure B).
  4. Measure the leg height and mark where the table will be attached to the door at that measurement.
  5. Attach the table to the door with wood screws so that the legs are level with the bottom of the door.
  6. For the arms of the chair, use four pieces of scrap wood cut approximately 1-1/2 feet long.
  7. Apply wood glue to one piece of the wood, then stack another piece on top and nail them together (figure C). Repeat this step for the second arm.
  8. For the armrest, glue each piece of broom handle onto the bottom piece of the armrest, and nail it in place from both sides.
  9. Mark where the arm of the chair should go and drill a hole using a 7/8-inch paddle bit (figure D). Screw the arm in place.
  10. For decoration use a wood floral piece to top the hall tree.
  11. Add iron hooks to hang coats and hats.
