Collecting and Displaying

Country accents are so beautiful it doesn't make sense to use them for only one purpose. In fact, double- and even triple-duty is almost a given in country design. Mary Emmerling offers tips on getting the most out of collecting and displaying your country favorites.

• Stack pitchers and pottery in open shelving for an eye-pleasing storage solution (figure A).
• Stack books on coffee and side tables if you lack shelving space.
• Turn a plant basket upside down and rest a tray on top for a simple side table (figure B).
• Use shells as paperweights, candleholders or dip bowls (figure C).
