Figure A
Materials:

natural fiber rope
1" wooden dowels
drill with bit the size of the rope diameter
acrylic paints
paintbrushes
rags
sandpaper
masking tape
2 curtain rod hooks

Steps:

1. Decide the number of desired rungs/ladder length and cut the dowels to the desired width. Drill holes about one inch in from each end of each dowel (rest the dowel in a clamped board with a groove cut in it to keep the dowel from moving while drilling ). Sand around holes if necessary.

2. Thin paints with water and paint each dowel. Remove excess with rags for a stained look and let dry.

3. Cut two lengths of rope longer than the finished length of the ladder, allowing for about 12 to 14 inches between each rung and knots. Wrap a piece of tape around the rope ends to keep them from fraying.

4. Lay dowels in order on a flat surface. Thread the rope through the bottom rung and tie knots on the bottom side (adjust the rope as necessary to make theme even ). Tie a knot in each rope about 12 to 14 inches from the rung and thread the rope through the next dowel.

5. Repeat knotting and threading until all the dowels are evenly spaced along the rope. Tie a knot with a loop at the top for hanging.

6. Attach curtain rod hooks to the wall and hang rope magazine ladder from these (figure A).
