Put cherished items on display by using salt and peppershakers to make tassels, dessert stands and candleholders.
Materials:

various salt and peppershakers with holes on top and bottom
3 vintage plates in graduated sizes
thin wire
buttons
hot glue gun
trim
fringe
cording
jump rings
scissors or wire cutter

Steps:

Tassels

1. Cut a ten-inch piece of wire and secure a jump ring to the center. Run wire through the top of the shakers and out the bottom hole.

2. Thread a button larger than the bottom hole over the ends of the wire and tie it off (this will provide stability for the cording handle).

3. Glue a row of fringe along the bottom of the shaker. Cover the rough edges with another row of coordinating trim.

4. Loop cording through the jump ring on the top for a hanger.

3-Tiered Serving Piece

1. Run wire through each salt and peppershaker (three for this project) as above using a button on top instead of a jump ring. Add the bottom button as before and tie the wire to secure it. These will act as the columns for the serving piece.

2. Generously glue the salt and peppershakers between each plate, starting with the bottom tier.

Tip: Glue two plates and one shaker together to make a candleholder.
