Give a child a place to display favorite items by making a felt-covered tack board.
Tack Board

Materials:

foam core
matte knife
white and green felt
spray adhesive
craft glue
foam core hanger

Steps:

  1. Cut the foam core to the desired size. Spray the adhesive to the surface in a well-ventilated area and position the green felt.
  2. Cut lines and bases out of white felt to make it look like a baseball diamond and glue them in place.
  3. Put a foam core hanger on the back and use to hold baseball cards, homework, art projects, etc.

Attach shoes to store-bought plaques for a fun and quick accessory.
Bookends

Materials:

pair of child's sports shoes
4 wooden plaques
miter box
paint
wood glue
nails
hammer
drill
screws

Steps:

  1. Cut a 45-degree angle along one edge of each plaque to form a bookend. Glue and nail them together.
  2. Drill pilot holes through the inside of a shoe (or baseball, mini mitt, etc.) and secure it with screws. Add coins to the shoe for weight to help hold up books.
