Turn an outdoor bulb crate into an indoor botanical print hanging with wire and nails.
|
|
Botanical Wall Hanging Materials:
old bulb or egg crate
steel wool
botanical prints
wire cutters
wire
hammer
nails
hole punch
sandpaper
cardboard
spray adhesive
Steps :
- Gently clean any dirt and rust off the crate with steel wool and sand the sides to remove splinters.
- Use a print that is at least one inch smaller than the crate so some of the wire mesh shows. If necessary, mount a piece of cardboard to the back of the print with spray adhesive to make it sturdy.
- Make a hole in each corner of the print and center it in the crate. Align four short nails with the holes and tap them slightly into the upper and lower frame of the crate.
- Thread a short piece of wire through each hole and wrap it around the exposed portion of the nail, leaving the wire taut to suspend the print.
- Hammer two nails to the back of the crate and twist wire around them for hanging .

Garden Crate Candle Display Materials:
old bulb crate
two tin pie pans
pillar candles
sandpaper
hole punch
wire
2 long nails
hammer
2 eyehooks
raffia
Steps:
- Lightly clean and sand the crate to remove dirt and splinters.
- Punch holes in the top, bottom and sides of the tin pans. Thread wire through each hole and the mesh of the crate to attach the plates to the backside. Twist the ends and cut any excess.
- Turn the crate over and drive the nails through so they are centered below the plates. These will hold the candles in place.
- Place the candles over the nails (be sure to allow at least six inches of clearance between the top of the candle and the crate).
- Screw eyehooks to the top of the crate and hang it with raffia.
