Custom Medallion Mirror

A foam ceiling medallion is the frame for this elaborate gilded mirror.

Designer Jan Page shows host Joan Steffend how to get the look of an expensive ($200 to $600) medallion mirror for around $40. She uses a high-density foam ceiling medallion, available at home centers. The middle circle is enlarged with a jig saw and a mirror is duck-taped onto the back. The medallion is then painted gold and the relief design is painted with the room's colors. The whole frame is then aged with antiquing gel.
