The soft glow of candlelight shines through these recycled tin can luminaries.

Materials:

old tin cans
X-acto knife or Phillips screwdriver and hammer

Steps:

  1. Remove labels, wash tins and turn down the edges so they are not sharp.
  2. Fill the cans with water and put them in the freezer overnight. The ice helps you have more control when cutting the tin.
  3. Use a craft knife or hammer and screwdriver to cut the tin into the chosen design .
  4. Paint the can and let dry. Place a candle inside (figure A).
