Paper napkins in a variety of designs completely transform plain baskets for any decor.
Materials:

baskets
white craft glue
sponge brushes
paper napkins or tissue paper
polyurethane

Steps:

1. Brush any dust or dirt from basket. Paint the background if desired and let dry.

2. Remove the backing from napkins and brush a layer of glue on the basket in a small area. Place a napkin over glue and use your fingers to push it into the surface of the basket (it will tear into smaller pieces, which helps it to adhere to the surface).

3. Repeat until basket is covered as desired and brush another layer of glue over it. Let dry. Glue or cut edges that are sticking up.

4. Once dry, apply polyurethane until desired sheen is achieved.

Tips:

  • Use more than one pattern on a basket surface to add color and texture.
  • Create stripes with two or more patterns of tissue or napkins by tearing design into strips before applying.
  • Cut out large designs and decoupage these over another pattern.
