Seamless Stainless
If you want a contemporary and industrial look for your kitchen, consider stainless steel. A great feature of stainless steel is that it can be constructed to your specifications for any size counter and can be installed without seams. Since stainless steel is a non-porous surfaces, it's virtually germ-free.

Limestone
Limestone is an organic material that can resemble marble but it's a lot tougher. The material is becoming a popular choice for its smooth finish and earthy colors. Designer Scott Reinboth says, "I think limestone gives you a much softer surface than your traditional granite, which has been used for the past several years."
