The cabinets of this kitchen are nice but lack a finishing touch. Matt Fox adds a captain's rail to complete the look.
Materials:

captain's rail
stain
miter box
spray latex polyurethane
rags
foam brush
drill
finish nails
nail set

Steps:

  1. When choosing the railing stain, take a cabinet door along for matching. Wipe the stain on with a foam brush, and then remove excess with a rag.
  2. Once dry, spray polyurethane on to protect the finish and let dry.
  3. Cut the railing with a miter box, using 45-degree angles at the corners.
  4. Drill pilot holes with a small bit into the captain's rail and attach it with finish nails. Tap the nails in with a nail set.
