Getting Started

Set the foundation of your wedding planning by figuring out your budget.

Choose a theme for your wedding, whether it's a particular color or a Moroccan or Tuscan style. Your theme is the starting point for all your ideas on how you want your wedding to look.

Narrow down your color scheme before meeting with any of your vendors. They'll need to know what look and feel you want to have at the wedding.

Pick the Right Flowers

Flowers set the mood for your event and it's the first thing that guest see when they walk into your venue. They can add a splash of color or give a hint of subdued elegance.

When picking flowers, a couple should expect to spend around 10 percent of their overall wedding budget. If using a space with an incredible view, you don't have to spend a lot of money on floral designs.

By adding several candles around small vases, you can make a beautiful but inexpensive centerpiece.

A new trend for accenting bouquets is to incorporate rhinestone and crystals throughout the flowers and handle. For a personal touch, add a grandmother's broach or favorite piece of jewelry. If you're giving jewelry to your bridesmaids, attach it their bouquets.

Once you decide on your florist and floral designs, make sure you pre-arrange to have a preview of your flowers, centerpieces and bouquets before the wedding day.
