In the spirit of Halloween, guest Dian Thomas shows how to make Halloween Costumes for adults. After combining a few simple supplies and a several easy steps, you too can make a terrific "Chocolate Chip Cookie Monster" or mouth-watering "Human Hamburger" costume.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Monster
Materials
two 24" circles of 1/2" foam
golden-brown and dark-brown spray paint
1 yard (1-1/2" wide) cotton webbing, for the straps
brown stocking cap, and sweat suit or tights and a leotard
Steps
- Spray the foam circles with golden-brown paint, let dry.
- Spray small spots of dark-brown paint to resemble chocolate chips.
- Attach the shoulder straps and wear over a brown outfit (sweat suit or tights and a leotard).
Human Hamburger
Materials
two 24" circles of 2" foam (bun)
one 24" x 24" square of 1/2" foam (cheese)
one 20" circle of 1/2" foam (tomato)
one roughly cut circle of 1/2" foam (lettuce)
golden brown, light brown, red, yellow, and green spray paint
contact cement
one yard (1-1/2" wide) cotton webbing, for the straps
brown sweat suit, or tights and a leotard
Steps
- Paint the foam pieces: bun - golden brown, cheese - yellow, tomato - red, lettuce - green.
- To represent sesame seeds, paint small dots of light brown paint on one of the bun halves (figure A).
- Glue the lettuce, tomato, and cheese to the inside of the bun, allowing the edges to hang out (figure B).
- Attach the shoulder straps and wear over a brown sweat suit or tights and a leotard.
