Bottle Ghosts
Mix Karo syrup and red food coloring together to desired consistency and you have instant blood (figure A)!

Parts of the Body

Eyeballs--Peel the skin off grapes

Fingers--Slice some carrots into finger length sizes and place in a bowl of gelatin (figure B).

Brains--Place cooked spaghetti in a bowl with some olive oil (figure C).

Teeth--Cut your teeth shapes in an orange peel. Place the teeth on a cardboard tube and place a rubber band around the tube to hold the orange peel (figure D). Doing this will round the orange peel and it will be easier to place on your teeth.

water
sugar
cheesecloth
tape

Steps:

Figure E

  1. Roll up a piece of foil into a ball and place on top of a pop bottle. Make foil "arms" and tape to the sides of the bottle (figure E). This is only a frame for the ghost, it's not supposed to look good. Boil 1/2 cup of water and one cup of sugar.

  • Drop a piece of cheesecloth in the solution and then drape it over the pop bottle. Let this dry and then remove from the bottle. Place several of these ghosts inside or on a buffet table or hang outside for decorations.

    Felt Pumpkins

You will need a medium-size foam ball, a piece of orange felt that is big enough to cover the ball, paper towels, a craft knife, pencil and nail file.

    1. Start by marking the pumpkin in sections with a pencil (figure F). Make a template slightly larger than the sections by cutting out the shape in a paper towel (figure G).

    2. Use the template to cut out the same shapes using the orange felt. Place th felt pieces one by one on the pumpkin sections.

    3. Use a craft knife or nail file to gently push the ends of the felt in the foam ball (figure H). Continue around until the entire ball is covered. You can leave the pumpkin as is or cut out eyes, nose and mouth with black felt and hot glue on.

    Pumpkin Ladder

A great decorative idea to put on your front porch or use for a party is to carve out several pumpkins, decorate them and place them on the steps of a tall ladder (figures I and J). You can add straw and autumn leaves for embellishments and dry ice to the top pumpkin to add a bit of ambience when you welcome your guests.

  • Place wrapped candy in small squares of cellophane. Gather the sides and tie with a few pieces of orange raffia(figure K). Knot the other end of the raffia so pieces stay together. Tie these pieces at different lengths to the bottom part of the wreath.

  • Attach a plastic skeleton to the wreath with black ribbon and spread fake spider webs around the wreath (cotton will work too). Add falls leaves for color (figure L).

  • To be really gruesome ... cook a cup of pasta, drain, and place in a plastic bag. Add a drop of red food coloring. Mix all together and attach these "red worms" to the wreath.

    2. Bring the sides of the cellophane up and over the bowl and shove inside the bowl (figure N).

    3. Place a glass votive inside the bowl and place a candle inside the votive glass (figure O).

    4. Attach three long pieces of ribbon around the bowl and bring up to form a triangle to hang. Light the candle and hang.
