After: Using a "Santa's Workshop West" theme, Ellen Totleben transformed the lawn into a fantasy land full of presents, reindeer, topiaries and lush garland.

Before: This bare front lawn is just asking to be decorated for the holidays.

After: An archway leads into the "Reindeer Grove," complete with life-size reindeer, reindeer topiaries and lots of holiday lights.
Photo

Before: The homeowners like their patio, but since it's completely bare, they don't use it.

After: New benches, spiral topiaries, toy soldiers and garlands full of lights bring function and fun to the area.
Set decorator Ellen Totleben used her television expertise to incorporate a "Santa’s Workshop West" theme at the Godwin home:

Cover exterior brick sections with masking tape, and then apply pieces of vinyl (available at wallpaper stores) or shelf paper over it to add festive color to your home.

Combine white, amber and pink lights on a window garland for a dimensional look. Squint your eyes to find gaps in anything you're lighting.

Hide the pots of a row of silk poinsettias with another staggered row of plants angled out in front of it. Bend the flowers as desired to hide gaps for a really lush presentation.

Gold paint and craft store items add dimension to a plain mailbox stuffed with letters to Santa made of craft foam.

Stuff reindeer topiaries made of chicken wire with sphagnum moss, and then cover them with silk or plastic ivy and lights for an outdoor woodland vignette.
