Wreaths With a Twist

Special Presentation : Episode HRRC-S -- More Projects »
Take a look at some of the most non-traditional wreaths hung in a non-traditional location--the upper hallway on the outside of the bedroom doors:

A plain white door certainly gains some personality from this wreath made out of traditional Christmas tree ornaments, but the combination of colors is quite unexpected. All the ornaments and beads are hot glued to a rounded foam ring that has been wrapped with a silver ribbon. This is so pretty it can be kept up through Easter.

Another wreath uses the traditional red and green colors of Christmas, but with materials that give it a twist. A twig wreath covered with lichen and moss makes the perfect background for a bed of red and pink roses, along with a few berries for color and texture.

This snowflake can only be called a wreath because it's hanging on a door. It's simply greenery added to a light and it can brighten an upstairs hall or even a front door.

Secure frosted cut-out cookies to a piece of ribbon-wrapped fiberboard using hot glue to create a wreath that's perfect for a kitchen wall, cabinet door or even as a centerpiece ring around a candle display.

Instead of an empty center like any traditional wreath, this one is filled in with ribbon and a foam ball covered with dried flowers.
Medallion Wreath

Materials:

2"-thick foam round (12" diameter)
greenery
dried flowers
wiring tool
florist's wire and picks
hot glue gun
leaf-covered foam ball
craft glue
crushed larkspur
foam paintbrush
ribbon
florist's wiring tool

Steps:

1. Wire bunches of greenery and flowers to picks. Insert the picks starting at the outside edge and move toward the center.
2. Wire ribbon pieces to picks as above. Create the ribbon medallion, leaving a center circle large enough for the ball to be attached.
3. Brush the ball with glue and roll it in the larkspur until it's covered. Glue the ball to the center.
