  • Lift the balloon out of the chocolate and place on waxed paper. Place into a refrigerator for approximately seven to 10 minutes.

  • Once the bowl has hardened, hold the top of the balloon between two fingers then cut the balloon with scissors, letting the air out slowly until the balloon releases from the bowl (figures A, B and C). Set the bowl aside, allowing it to cure for a few hours before filling.

    Chocolate Box

    Ingredients:

    chocolate
    candy dish mold

    Steps:

    1. Melt chocolate in a bowl.

    2. Pour the chocolate slowly into the candy dish mold until it's full. Scrape off any excess and tap the mold onto the counter to release any air bubbles.

    3. Place the mold into a refrigerator for approximately 15 minutes. Turn the mold upside down. The dish should release from the mold. If it doesn't release easily, place the chocolate back in the refrigerator for five to 10 more minutes.

    4. Once released, set the chocolate candy dish aside for two to three hours before filling.

    Tasty Treats Toffee

    Ingredients:

    one cup sugar
    two tablespoons of water
    four cups of nuts
    eight broken chocolate bars
    1/4 lb. butter
    1/8 tsp. lecithin

    Steps:

    1. Pour two cups of nuts into a round pizza pan.

    2. Break up chocolate bars and spread on top of nuts. Set aside.

    3. To make the toffee mixture, melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add water and lecithin.

    4. Add sugar to butter, water and lecithin mixture then cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture reaches 300-degrees.

    5. Spoon mixture over nuts and chocolate until covered. Do this step as quickly as possible because the toffee mixture tends to set rather quickly.

    6. Pour the remaining nuts over the hot toffee mixture. Chill for two hours. Use this candy to fill the chocolate bowls.

    Pretzels

    Ingredients:

    crushed pretzels
    white confectioner coating

    Steps:

    1. Melt white confectioner coating in microwave.

    2. Dip whole pretzel in the coating or crush pretzels and mix into the coating to form small pretzel balls. Use pretzels to fill chocolate bowls.

    Tips:

    • Place pretzels or pretzel balls on waxed paper to chill. The waxed paper releases the chocolate more readily.
    • Wrap the filled gift bowls in cellophane. Embellish with a festive bow to create an elegant holiday party gift for the host or hostess.
