Materials:
glass globe vase (or old-fashioned fish bowl) with a 3/8" hole drilled in bottom or side
desired images
scissors
small nail scissors
clear-drying water-based glue
sponge brushes
damp paper towels
several small squares of poly foam
water-based craft paint
lamp kit (including vase cap, pipe, socket, wire and base)
Steps:
- Clean globe vase and set aside.
- Carefully cut images out using scissors--use nail scissors or a razor blade for detailed cuts. Create additional cuts on the image to allow it to bend to the curved surface. Set aside.
- With sponge brush, generously apply glue to inside of vase.
- Lay the first image flat and face down on the glued surface. Gently rub it to remove air bubbles and excess glue.
- Remove excess glue around image with a damp paper towel. Repeat process until all images are applied. Let dry.
- Use a small square of poly foam to sponge on a thin glue layer all over the inside of the vase. This allows the paint to adhere to the surface. Let dry.
- Use poly foam to lightly apply several thin coats of craft paint, allowing it to dry between coats. Continue until there is an opaque finish. Let dry completely.
- Put lamp together according to directions and plug it in.
