Recycle those old lampshades by painting images of oversize zinnias, sunflowers and pansies with acrylic paints. The result will be larger than life, dramatic lighting for any room in the house.

Materials:

paper lampshades
pencil
acrylic paints in bright colors
shiny gold paint
pain brushes
old seed catalogs or gardening magazines

Steps:
  1. Paint the inside of the shade with gold paint and let dry.
  2. Paint the outside of shade with a solid color of your choice and let dry.
  3. Draw oversized flowers on the outside of the shade in a random pattern, allowing the images to bleed off the edges. Tip: Avoid centering the flowers and drawing them in a uniform pattern.
  4. Paint flowers in desired colors and let dry. Use your imagination or paint the flowers in natural colors.
