Host Cindy Piccoli demonstrates how to colorwash photocopied images and decoupage them to the inside of an inexpensive white lampshade.

Materials:

lampshade
botanical images
scissors
decoupage glue
brush
copied images
liquid Rit dye
brush
paper towels
fire-retardant spray

Steps:

  1. Photocopy botanical images; brush them with undiluted dye and let dry (figure A).
  2. Cut out images and brush colored side of them with decoupage glue (figure B ). Position them onto the inside of lamp; let dry.
  3. Brush undiluted dye onto outside of shade and wipe away excess with paper towels .
  4. Cover inside of shade with fire-retardant spray.
