Raffia-Covered Lamp

Create a thatched accent with raffia and an old floor lamp. Figure A Figure B

floor lamp
3 hula skirts
seashell
glue gun
scissors
masking tape

Steps:

1. Cut hula skirt in half.
2. Starting at the top of the lamp pole, drape half of raffia, holding in place with masking tape and hot glue. Tie a piece of raffia around pole to cover tape ( figure A).
3. Add other half of raffia to pole and squeeze down equal distances to bottom of pole. Secure as above.
4. To cover lampshade, use two hula skirts for fullness. Wrap around and secure with hot glue at the top (figure B). Trim raffia to fit shade.
5. Place finial inside of seashell and secure with hot glue. Attach to top of shade.
