Materials:
teacups and saucers
marker
awl
drill or drill press with 1/4" ceramic bit
1/4" threaded metal rod
1/4" copper tubing
pipe cutter
3 stainless steel nuts with 1/4" hole
washers with 1/4" holes (two small and one large)
craft foam
votive candles
Steps:
1. Measure and mark the center of the cup and saucer. Carefully drill holes on the marks by slowly tapping the drill up and down to avoid breakage.
2. Cut metal rod and copper tubing to desired length (the rod should be about eight inches longer than the tubing). Screw a nut about six inches in from one end of the metal rod and insert it into the copper tube (about two inches of the rod should be exposed on the other end to hold the cup and saucer).
3. Cut two 1/2-inch squares of craft foam and punch a hole in the center of each with an awl.
4. Tighten a nut, small washer, and then a small foam square on the shorter rod end. Add the saucer, and then the large washer. Put the teacup on, and then the other square spacer. Finally, add a small washer and a nut to hold the assembly tightly together.
5. Push the rod into soil or a plant and add a votive, potpourri or a plant.
