Materials:

craft paper
pencil or pen
black card stock (or desired color)
animal print paper
China marker
craft knife
tacky glue
clothespins
beaded trim (if desired)

Steps:

  1. Make a template for the lampshade cover by placing the existing shade on a piece of craft paper (line up the seam with the edge of the paper). Roll the shade and mark around the base with a marker or pencil until it's rolled back to the seam. Repeat with the top of the shade. Add about a half-inch for overlap when gluing it together .
  2. Cut out the template.
  3. Trace this onto two sheets of paper--one from a solid card stock (black is featured ) and one from a piece of animal-print paper. Cut out both.
  4. Decide which will be on the bottom as the solid sheet and top (this will have a pattern cut out).
  5. Using a sharp craft knife, cut out designs from the top layer (try zebra stripes or leopard spots).
  6. Glue the two layers together so that the solid piece shows through the cut piece.
  7. Wrap and glue the seam, holding it together with clothes pins.
  8. Once dry, slip over the existing lampshade.
  9. For an extra touch, add beaded trim around the top and the
